Amphenol Tri-Start MIL-DTL-38999 series III thread coupling connectors offer the highest performance capabilities for both general duty and severe environment applications. Different versions are available: "TV" metal versions (aluminium, stainless steel or aluminium bronze) as well as "CTV" composite versions, which offer a lightweight, corrosion resistant connector with the same high performance features as its metal counterpart.

The SJT Series connectors are designed and approved to meet the most stringent requirements of the military and aerospace industry. These lightweight scoop proof bayonet connectors are intermountable with MIL-C-26482 type connectors (same panel cut out).They are approved to LN29729, VG96912, PAN 6433-2 , JN1003.

Receptacles with Stand-off   Receptacles with Stand-off
Square flange and jam nut receptacles equipped with PC tail contacts and stand-off. This device allows to fix directly the connector to the board with 3 or 4 screws. This feature avoids the use of fastening device during the soldering process and ensures a perfect grounding between the shell of the connector and the ground of the board. It prevents any mechanical stress on the contacts' terminations during the life of the equipment and increases the reliability and the resistance to shocks and vibrations.

The RNJ rack and panel connectors are used to connect electrical or optical devices between a moving unit (rack) and a fixed unit (panel), without any coupling / uncoupling system. The locking of the mated pair is ensured by the mechanical device of the rack. These connectors with realignment capability were designed for harsh environment in term of sealing, shocks, vibrations and EMI protection. The RNJ connectors are HE308 qualified.
RNJLP - Low Profile Rack & Panel Connectors   RNJLP - Low Profile Rack & Panel Connectors
The RNJLP rack and panel connectors are designed to connect electrical devices between a moving unit (rack) and a fixed unit (panel). The locking of the mating pair is ensured by the mechanical device of the rack. These connectors with realignment capability were designed for harsh environment, with a low profile design allowing a short distance between the two panels. This is a big benefit for the systems where space is an issue.
PP39 - Push-Pull Connectors   PP39 - Push-Pull Connectors
The PP39 connectors are the first push-pull connectors fully derivated from the MIL-DTL-38999 series III standard. Their mechanical and electrical performances meet or exceed the ones of this standard, class W of F. The PP39 connectors have the same outer dimensions and inserts as the MIL-DTL-38999 III ones. Receptacles with stand-off, integrated backshells and lanyard versions are available.

The SC39 connectors offer a new connecting solution, particularly for applications which required a fast and easy connection/disconnection. The innovation lay in the mating system. It consists in a circular spring trapped in the receptacle which keeps the plug mated. The SC39, without any rotating ring or moving part insures a high reliability. Receptacles with stand-off, integrated backshells and lanyard versions are available.
Very High Density Inserts   Very High Density Inserts
Amphenol Socapex has developed a full range of High Density inserts to fit in any MIL-DTL-38999 shell types (LJT, JT, TV, CTV) or derivates (RNJ, RNJLP, PP39, SC39…). These inserts allow a contact density increase up to 45% versus a standard MIL-DTL-38999 insert, by using size 23 MIL qualified contacts (M39029/47-314 and M39029/33-264). Contacts with PC-tails are also available.
38999 Power Safe Connectors   38999 Power Safe Connectors
The 38999 Power Safe connectors are designed to transmit high power with voltages from 250 V to 500 V. Those connectors are directly derived from the standard MIL-DTL-38999 III, with the same environmental characteristics. Their main benefit is to provide a real user safety, due to a first-to-mate earth contact directly linked to the shell. The last-to-mate/first-to-break pilot contact allows the mating and unmating without power.
38999 Power Connectors   38999 Power Connectors
These connectors, derived from the MIL-DTL-38999 Series are equipped with ruggedized power inserts. The power contacts are crimp contacts for 60 Amps,100 Amps, 230 Amps and 500 Amps currents. These power connectors are available in different shell types : MIL-DTL-38999 I (LJT), MIL-DTL-38999 III (TV-CTV), VG96912 (SJT), RNJ and RNJLP. The 4 x 60 Amps and the 4 x 100 Amps are HE308 qualified (bayonet and rackable versions).

Standard MIL-DTL-38999 and derived receptacles are available with sealed inserts and non removable contacts. These connectors withstand differential pressure with a very low air leakage. They are available in male and female versions and their aluminum alloy shells allow lots of geometries versus glass filled hermetic connectors. Available with wire soldering and PCB contacts.
Integrated backshells   Integrated backshells
Available on plugs and receptacles, these 2-in-1 connectors/band backshells provide a highe EMI protection with a quick, easy and cost effective cabling process. They are low profile, with enhanced sealing level and allow the use of macro or micro bands, as well as straight or right angled heat shrink moulded pieces. The desigh of the shells make them compatible with overmolding process.

MIL-DTL-38999 aluminium shells can be fitted directly -without particular tooling- with standard cordsets such as RJ45 Ethernet (Cat.5e), USB, Firewire (IEEE1394), RJ11 and the MTRJ and LC fiber optic interfaces. These connectors provide environmental protection : IP67, dust, shocks and vibrations. They also eliminate hazardous and costly in-field assembly.

These fiber optic ceramic termini size 2.5 mm are dedicated to multimode and singlemode applications with high return loss. These optical termini are fitted in dedicated fiber optic inserts for a high performance level (0,5dB typical per connection). These inserts, available in 2, 4 and 8 channels are compatible with the following cylindrical connectors : LJTOP, bayonet coupling, derived from MIL-DTL-38999 I ; TVOP, thread coupling, derived from MIL-DTL-38999 III and RNJOP, rack and panel.
Filtered Connectors   Filtered Connectors
Amphenol have a very strong experience in designing and manufacturing filter solutions for the Mil Aerospace industry. Filtered connectors, derived from MIL-DTL-38999, using planar and tubular technology provide EMI and EMP protection. The filter types are available in a wide range of capacitance and voltage values and may be selected in virtually any combination within the connector insert (Pi, LRC, CLR, C, T). Filter adapters are available for existing devices for filtering without redesign. For PCB versions, header assemblies protect the connectors before soldering onto the PC boards.
Grounded Connectors   Grounded Connectors
Connectors equipped with ground plane inserts allow the grounding of all high speed contacts to the connector shell and then to the chassis of the equipment without hazardous cabling operation. This ground plane technology is now available in many connector series such as : MIL-DTL-38999 I and III, as well as derived products (RNJ, RNJLP, SC39) for size 16, 12 and 8 high speed contacts. The new low voltage differential signaling contacts - Differential Twinax and Quadrax - have also their dedicated ground plane inserts.

The backshells enhance the performance capabilities of the connectors for both general duty and severe environment applications. The rear accessories for MIL-DTL-38999 standard connectors and derived products are available in straight and right angled versions, backnuts, cable clamps, adaptors for heat shrink molded pieces and EMI version with different termination possibilities (braid soldering, clamping, banding).

Amphenol offer Protection Caps for MIL-DTL-38999 connectors and derivates in different finish as like bronze, cadmium and aluminium plated. Protection caps equipped with metallic chain or nylon cord.

Amphenol's expertise in interconnection solutions insures the proper mateability and performance of the contacts, whether they are standard signal or power, crimp or PCB, as well as wire wrap or solder. Thermocouple contacts are also available.

Amphenol offer a wide range of high frequency contacts for RF, LAN, data bus and coax/triax/twinax transmission. Coaxial contacts are available in sizes 16, 12 and 8. Triax and twinax contacts are available in sizes 12 and 8. Those high frequency contacts are available in crimp and PCB versions, with a large variety of PC-tails.
Quadrax and Differential Twinax Contacts   Quadrax and Differential Twinax Contacts
Amphenol quadrax and differential twinax contacts are available for use in MIL-DTL-38999 connectors and derivates. These size 8 contacts can be used for a frequency range of up to 3 Gigahertz and are 100Ω, 110Ω and 150Ω matched impedance contacts. Quadrax and differential twinax are available in crimp and PC-tail versions.
POM - Optical termini   POM - Optical termini
These high speed transmission optical termini are compatible with size 16 MIL-DTL-38999 series III cavities for multimode applications. The large choice of MIL-DTL-38999 insert arrangements allows many possibilities : 2, 4 or 8 channels. The POM are intermateable with MIL-PRF-29504/4 and MIL-PRF-29504/5 optical termini.
